Trichology

Frequent Pathologies

Trichology

Trichology is the branch of dermatology that studies, diagnoses, and treats hair and scalp conditions. At Piel Dermatologia, we have a team of highly qualified and specialized trichologists to help you care for your hair and prevent or treat problems such as hair loss, dandruff, alopecia, and other conditions.

Androgenetic Alopecia

Androgenetic alopecia (male or female pattern hair loss) is the most common form of hair loss. Hair follicles in the forehead, crown, and forehead of men are more sensitive to the action of androgens, which cause miniaturization (i.e., thinning) of the follicles. If left untreated, they will disappear.

Alopecia Areata

Alopecia areata is typically a sudden, patchy, non-scarring hair loss in people without obvious skin disorders or systemic diseases. Diagnosis is typically based on physical examination, although a skin biopsy is sometimes necessary.

Complementary Exams

To arrive at an accurate diagnosis of the type of alopecia, it is important, in addition to a proper clinical examination, to evaluate a series of deficits or deficiencies or other concomitant diseases that have not yet been diagnosed.
